David Kemp currently advises the London Borough of Redbridge as a locum planning and licensing lawyer. As with his experience at or with other London Boroughs, this provides a valuable insight into the attitudes of, approach and issues faced by Council officers and Committee Members. The Planning system is essentially a public law system. Therefore, this experience cannot be understated, and provides a valuable resource in helping to steer DRK Planning’s private clients through the planning system.
Legal advice has been provided on enforcement, lawful use, residential and commercial development, planning and enforcement appeals, listed buildings and conservation areas, highways law, affordable housing, legal challenges and planning and highways agreements. High profile projects have included the new UK Supreme Court Building and the redevelopment of the Swiss Centre in Leicester Square.
David Kemp has acted in-house for local planning authorities in Barnet, Merton, Islington, the City of Westminster and Redbridge, and has externally advised Southwark, Lambeth and Croydon London Borough Councils.
